Glendale Glitters Recommendations / Review
Last week we took the kids to Arizona’s Largest Free Light Display, Glendale Glitters.
Glendale Glitters has 1.7 million twinkling lights stretching across 16 blocks.
Really, I was expecting a larger event before I went, and although 1.7 million lights sound like a ton -it’s a rather quaint display.
Most of the lights are at the heart of historic downtown, with wrapped trees stretching down the blocks.
With that said, it was a gorgeous light display, especially for a free event!
What I recommend is to make it an evening event. Plan to arrive earlier to catch some dinner and dessert - you’ll want to get Papa Ed’s Ice Cream before they close at 6pm!
Papa Ed’s Ice Cream is kind of famous in historic downtown Glendale - so save room for some, OR you can save room for many of the other vendors selling treats.
We opted for dessert from a street vendor selling Carmel covered apples this trip!
Then while you eat your treats, browse downtown - take advantage of the photo ops (pic of us with the reindeer), and if you would like, you can catch a photo with Santa on Friday or Saturday night- he’s sitting behind a glass pane this year.
Be sure you also find the gorgeous tree light display. It’s kind of off the beaten path of the other lights.
Walking downtown Glendale Glitters and enjoying the lights will take as long or be as quick as you let it - bc again, the majority of the lights are centered in the heart of downtown.
Now, for the sake of a full review - homeless people are walking and sleeping along the outskirts of the display. So, if that is something that puts you off - you should know beforehand.
But again - I recommend to plan to grab some food (we like Pizza Old Roma) and browse Arizona’s Largest Free light display with dessert in your hand, and it’ll make for a fun, inexpensive, Christmas season experience.
