Hassayampa River Preserve | Wickenburg
Hassayampa River Preserve, located in Wickenburg, is a beautiful, unexpected oasis tucked inside the Wickenburg desert.
Since last summer, the Hassayampa River has been on my list of places to visit! I saw a friend visit and was captivated by the beauty and wildlife from the photos she shared, and this place 100% lived up to my expectations. It’s beautiful, and my kids loved exploring all that Hassaympa had to offer!
There are six self-guided trails to choose from when exploring Hassayampa River Preserve; we chose to explore two of them during our visit. The first one was the Palm Lake Loop. Palm Lake Loop is stroller friendly and so beautiful! We were captivated by the towering palm trees and the many different birds we spotted!
The Palm Lake look is ½ mile loop and again stroller friendly.
The second trail we took was River Ramble. This trail is not exactly stroller friendly. We managed to get our stroller through, but I would not recommend it. There is a lot of sand on this trail which the kids absolutely loved. They spent lots of time digging and building in the sand. We also enjoyed seeing cows while on this trail!
Hassayampa River Preserve also has a small nature center to investigate during your time there! There are sensory boxes to put your hands into, with things like turtle shells inside and lots of other exploratory fun.
We spent two hours exploring the trails and enjoying lunch at Hassayampa River Preserve. It was 100% worth the drive both the kids and parents enjoyed the experience, and bonus, it’s well shaded, so if you visit during the warmer months, you’ll still be able to enjoy yourself!
⭐️Kids are Free | Adults are $5 | Parking is Free
Hassayampa also offers lots of guided tours through the preserve. Here is a link to their website.
